Autograph Manuscript poem, 1 page 4to (a little soiled, some splitting in the folds), no date [after 1825]. A sonnet ('Written at Benares, in the East Indies. / By David Lester Richardson Esq / Author of "Sonnets and other Poems".')
'The shades of evening veil the lofty spires
Of proud Benares' fanes; - a twilight haze
The calm scene shrouds, - The weary boat-men raise
Along the dusky shore their crimson fires, ...'
The poem has, rather characteristically it would seem, a lengthy explanatory footnote.
