MILLAIS, Sir John Everett (1829-1896). Painter.
Autograph Letter Signed to ?Edward Salomons, 1 page 8vo on blue paper (slight traces of former mounting), Annat Lodge, Perth, 7 July 1856. Suggesting that Ruskin could be reached at this Denmark Hill address or through his publishers.
In 1855 Millais had married Euphemia Chalmers, who had obtained a decree of nullity of her marriage to John Ruskin, and had taken her to live at Annat Lodge. It was here in the garden that he painted the celebrated picture 'Autumn Leaves' in 1856.
