Typewritten Letter Signed ('G. Bernard Shaw') to Miss Edith M[aurice] Vance, page 4to, 10 Adelphi Terrace, 28 March 1919. Recommending her for the position of 'guardian in my old constituency of St Pancras', and discussing her recent descent into blindness.

The experience of Sir Arthur Pearson has proved that what needs to be done for the blind is never done thoroughly until it is taken in hand by someone who adds to public spirit and trained political intelligence the actual experience of becoming blind. ... It is characteristic of you not to allow your loss of sight to stop your public work. ... '
